Mick Gordon, composer of Eternal Doom

Mick Gordon , composer of doom eternal , has published an extensive statement in which he talks about his experience working in the title. It responds directly to Marty Stratton , director of ID Software , which according to Gordon negatively affected its reputation with a REDDIT publication issued in May 2020 by saying that the composer had only edited and Mixed 12 of the 59 themes of his soundtrack and several delivery dates had been skipped. Gordon, on the other hand, has now shared a multitude of problems of crunch and management by the developer, which were translated into 11 months of waiting until receiving the remuneration for his work, which led him to «sleep in the study far home, survive with heated food in the microwave and spend long periods away from the family ».

Marty Stratton, director of the ID Software, lied about the events of the Eternal Doom Band in a Reddit post in which he used misinformation to blame me completely for his failure, says Gordon. «Later, he offered me a sum of six figures to never talk about it again. The truth is more important ». The composer also clarifies that it is not a direct attack but a defense after the effects of Stratton's publication, having not been able to solve the matter in another way.

As he explains, ID software initially proposed a very difficult time to meet in which, in many cases, he composed the music before the levels existed. In addition, the clues created by Gordon that were included in the final launch of the game are more than double those included in their contract, and finally they were not paid: «Rejections, models, demonstrations, many of them were never destined to public launch. I created this music as part of the development process and shared it with Software in good faith. But ID Software used music in the game, marketing and soundtrack and still refuses to pay me for it ».

Apparently, the problems working with Doom Eternal began since before their hiring, since the author's name was included in the early orders of the edition for collectors of the game even before Gordon confirmed his participation, a fact that caused the appeals of the composer and delayed the beginning of his work in the soundtrack of the title.

After a launch that generated controversy, Gordon explains that ID Software director asked for help to address the situation: «I got totally available to Marty and promised to satisfy customers disappointed with a better OST. Marty made it clear that he wanted me to get involved, saying that he wanted a positive result, that he had no bad intentions and that he wanted to solve the problem professionally, we read in the statement. However, although they proposed to issue a joint statement to face the problems, Gordon says he was waiting for a draft from Stratton that never arrived.

DOOM: At the moment, neither Software nor Marty Stratton have issued official statements in this regard.

In addition to his work at Atomic Heart, the last thing we knew about a work by Mick Gordon arrived last June with Routine's revert, a game published by Raw Fury and developed by Lunar Software that has the composer as in charge of his soundtrack.
