New World allows addons like the self-created minimap, but not all

For many fans of MMORPGs, addons and mods are simple. For NEW WORLD, the players have built their own minimap to care for themselves easier in the world. This minimap was first banned by Amazon, but officially allowed. In general, there is now a statement about Addons about OverWolf.

Are Addons allowed now? In part. As Community Manager Luxendra has notified in the forum, addons of Overwolf, which are placed as overlay over the game, are allowed to access the client or external websites.

Forbidden, however, addons that offer you through intervention in the client or external websites playful benefits.

We continue to discuss with Overwolf over this special Addon [the minimap]. At the moment we have made the decision that client-controlled addons that only use the position of the player in the world are OK.

However, if the functionality should change in a way that violates our Terms of Use, such as the involvement of other websites for the determination of resources, paths or secure / unsafe areas of the card, we will first announce an official change of our attitude and then measures take.

What specifies that concrete? An overlay like the minimap, as you have built two players, is allowed after the current control.

Critical, on the other hand, it becomes, as soon as the overlay gives you benefits, for example if it reveals the places of nodes, which ways are safe or unsure or indicates quest goals that are not actually labeled with an official marker. These remain prohibited.

Addons that access the client, for example about implementing a DPS meter, are banned in the terms of service anyway.
